Soccer in the Olympic Games

This Olympic Games will be very interesting for the soccer in general because it will happen in Brazil, “the land of soccer”. And the country still does not have a gold medal, so it would be cool winning it for the first time “at home” with everybody cheering for the team.

The women's football tournament at the 2016 Olympics will take place between 3rd and 19th August. This being the sixth edition of the competition, the Brazilian team will present its best team to represent the best of the country this year is organizing the XXXI Olympic Games.
The biggest favorites to the gold medal are the teams of the United States, Brazil, Germany and France.

Women's football in the Olympics is a relatively recent event, only in 1996 was included women's football tournament at the Olympic Games. With no time to organize a qualifying tournament, it was decided that the vacancies would be the first eight placed in the FIFA Women's World Cup 1995, the vacancy to play in the Olympics in Atlanta until then had been lost, because the Brazilian team went out in the first World stage being in ninth place. The going of the Brazilian team to Atlanta was only possible because England, the sixth in the World 1995, couldn’t go. And since then, women's football has been playing in the Olympic Games.
