Shooting



One of the amazing things in sport it’s going to happen in Brazil, we’ll receive the Olympic Games, and we know that have a lot of modalities. But let’s talk about Shooting.

Shooting is a modality that the athlete use a air gun or a bullet gun to mesure your precision and speed in a determinated distance of a target. This sport started in the Olympic Games since the first edition in 1896, in Athenas. Until 1964, just man could participate of this modality, the first edition of the women participated it was in 1968 in Mexico City but men and women competed at the same category. In Los Angeles, 1984, happend the first category just for women. 




Rules


This is the field were happens the competition. The first one is for pistols and rifles. The second is destinated for shotguns. There are three types of positions: standing, kneeling or prone (lying on their front) and eihter 10m, 20m or 50m from the target. The events are divide by the distance of the shots. It varies from 40 to 120m. The final phase the athlete must shot between 20 and 45 times, except for the pistols, that requires more shots. The target is divides into 10 lines. In the middle, the value is higher than the extremity. The points varies into 1.0 to 10.9 points. The athletes are recommended to use a eye and a ear protector, to minimize the damages and the effects of the shots.
